A Boilermaker Apprenticeship involves training in mark, cut, shape, assemble and fixing metal to produce or repair ships, boilers, storage tanks and other containers that have to withstand pressure. Boilermakers may work indoors in large workshops or on site during shipbuilding or tank and pipeline construction.
You may be expected to
- Examine detailed drawings or specifications to find out job, material and equipment requirements
- Cut, roll, shape, bend, mould, spin, heat or hammer metal products to fabricate parts or sub-assemblies
- Heat treat metal parts and components
Career Prospect
The skills and knowledge gained during the time completing a Certificate III in Boilermaker (Engineering) will allow you to have the experience for several other job roles within the industry.
