Robert Vidler – Canada Week 2

My first week working with BC framing company Dalmore Constructions has been amazing- does it really have to end?

It was a cruisy start to the week as Dale’s Carpenters had Monday off so we spent the day attending an Engineers inspection, tours of the jobs he had going and planning the following day which consisted of completing defects from the report, setting out footings and picking up Lumber. I also had the pleasure of meeting Glen Jaheny, the builder Dale does framing for. Together they specialize in custom built- high end homes.

On Wednesday Dale, Glen and myself traveled about 5 hours up to Shuswap Lake to build a small cabin type building on a summer retreat. It will be used for storage, hot water and electrical services. We stayed @Quaaout Lodge and finished the project on Thursday then drove back to south Surrey.

On Friday we built a slightly larger frame that will be a pump room, change rooms and showers for the pool.

During this time I had been using Imperial (feet and inches) which I have now learnt and can use quite fluently.

I also got a thorough walk through of the “house” James (2016 Canada Ambassador) was working on. It’s massive!!! And still not finished 2 years later.

I am very lucky things have fallen into place for me to see so much of this beautiful countryside.
