Introducing the Trade Outcome Program (TOP)- Carpentry
East Coast Apprenticeships has created an opportunity for young Queenslanders to gain skills and experience in the Building and Construction Industry. Participants will attend 2 weeks at SRTO where they will obtain skills relevant to the Trade, followed by 2 weeks of unpaid work experience (Monday to Thursday). Each Friday, applicants will return to the SRTO for a re-cap of their skills. Applicants can demonstrate their attitude and aptitude to secure a Building Construction Apprenticeship with active builders in the Trade.
WHAT IS THE HOST EMPLOYERS ROLE?
ECA is seeking selected Host Employers to provide the training opportunities / work experience for the participants of the Trade Outcome Program and can offer a placement into an Apprenticeship.
WORK PLACEMENT CONDITIONS:
- Host to provide a safe working environment
- Host to train Apprentices for the 2-week period (at no cost to the Host Employer)
- Host will be working with a committed potential Apprentice who has already been interviewed by ECA and will have attended SRTO regarding site safety, and learnt basic hand and power tool operation
- Ideally, based on the participant’s performance, Host Employers will be in a position to provide an ongoing Apprenticeship for successful applicants
HOW DOES THE PROGRAM WORK?
The Program consists of 2 weeks at SRTO learning modules from the Certificate I in Construction followed by 2 weeks’ worth of Work Experience with an East Coast Apprenticeships Host Employer.
More than 200 participants from previous TOP Carpentry Programs have been successful in gaining full-time apprenticeships with East Coast Apprenticeships.
